After three days of riots in London, it feels really strange to walk the streets of Hackney, one in many areas afected by the riots in East London. I went to Mare Street and Pembury Road because I wanted to see how does the streets looks like after the riots of yesterday. There is a real sense of insecurity today in Hackney and that’s why most of the shops decided to shut down.

Even though it was sunny and warm, not many people went out. There’s something that doesn’t let them enjoy and relax as any other day of the summer. The people is scared and they don’t want to go out.

002
If yesterday were 6.000 police in London trying to sofocate the riots, tonight there are going to be 16.000 police on duty.

Newsagents, Coffe Shops, Off Licences, Restaurants and Supermarkets closed today. It was very difficult to find open shops in the afternoon.

006
It was totally overwhleming the amount of disturbs registered yesterday in London and other cities in England.

007

008
The streets were desserted, just a few people walking from time to time.

Even in Whitechapel area, where there were not riots at all in the last three days, some banks and retail stores were closed as well.

There is a tense calm in London at the moment. The sound of the helicopters and the sirens are constantly breaking the weird silence that came after three nights of noise, disturbs and fires across the city. No wonder why there’s so much tension suspended in the air.
